The Challenge:  Spend 15 Minutes Outside Each Day in the Month of January

I know what you are thinking!  So before you jump to another page, let me tell you more.

I was recently reading a post by Jenae over at I Can Teach My Child.  She was sharing about a book she is reading called Fifteen Minutes Outside: 365 Ways to Get Out of the House and Connect with Your Kids by Rebecca P. Cohen.  It sounds like a great book that I will have to add to my reading list.

In the book, the author puts forth a challenge for the month of January . . . and that is to spend 15 minutes each day OUTSIDE!  At first I thought it was a little crazy, but the more I thought about it, I decided to give it a try . . . for the sake of my kids (ignore the slight hint of contempt from this freeze-baby mom).

Last year, with Sweet Girl only a year old, any outdoor winter fun was well, let’s just say, not so fun!  She wouldn’t keep on her mittens and didn’t last long in the cold weather.  So Sweet Boy only made it outdoors when my husband was home.

We have been keeping up with the January daily challenge and I have to say, I really enjoy it.  It is a great break in our day and a chance for some creative and physical fun.  Now, never mind the fact that it takes us equally as long to get everyone dressed in winter attire, but the benefits far outweigh.  I have been feeling refreshed and exhilarated by it . . . not to mention enjoying the yummy hot chocolate with marshmallows when we get back in.

Most of all, I feel like an intentionally fun mom!  Care to join us?
