Laundry themed gift basket

Remember all my talk about that laundry sign I was creating for my friend’s birthday?  You know, the one I poured into only to have multiple things go wrong?  Even after all the struggle, the sign came out beautifully.  (Read what happened here.)

Well, finally I have the reveal for you!

Laundry Schedule Sign

I had seen this humorous sign multiple times on the web and thought it would be perfect in a laundry themed gift basket for my friend, Tara . . .We both feel the same way about laundry . . . I avoid ironing at all costs.

Along with the sign, I had intended to give Tara all the ingredients to make homemade laundry detergent with a cute jar in which to store the finished product.  She is very good about being as green and safe as possible, so I thought it would be a fun gift.  But I had no idea which homemade laundry detergent recipe was best so I did what anyone would do . . . ask on Facebook.  😉

When I posed the question to my FB followers, I received some great answers.  Tara was out of town, which should have meant she would be checking Facebook even less than usual.  I was safe or so I thought.  She posted a response that she actually prefers Charlie’s Soap over homemade ones because she isn’t big on Fels-Naptha Soap, which is used in most DIY detergent recipes.

Great gift idea thwarted!  So I turned around and bought Charlie’s Soap for her instead, along with a new laundry basket and a couple other little items to create my fun laundry themed gift basket.

Tara speaks very highly about this soap and its raw ingredients.  If you want to give it a try, you can purchase the soap on Amazon or read more about what is in Charlie’s Soap here.

What is your least favorite part of doing laundry?  Do you have a favorite laundry detergent?
