A couple weeks ago, Dan and I were at a fundraiser dinner and the table favors were sweet acorn ornaments. They were so cute and I knew instantly I had to make more. Their acorns involved drilling and metal rings, but I needed something faster and easier.
So I grabbed an assortment of ribbons and twine, diamonds and marbles and started creating. I think you’ll love that you can match any color scheme by switching up the color of the ribbon and marbles.
{Later this week, I am attaching a cluster of my green ribbon/clear diamond acorns for a fun, yet rustic look to a simple white gift box. Stop back to see how it looks.}
You Will Need:
- Acorn Caps
- Hot Glue Gun
- Plastic Diamonds and Glass Marbles

How to Make Acorn Ornaments and Gift Tags:
1. Gather your acorn caps, diamonds and marbles. Clean and dry the acorns as necessary. You can find a great assortment of diamonds on Amazon. (I used both diamonds with a flat top and ones that peaked like a pyramid. Either work, you will just need to pair it with the right acorn lid.)
For the marbles, you will need true, round stones. Make sure you are not using the flatter gemstones; they will not look right in the acorn lid. (This set of marbles looks sooo cute!!!)
2. Begin to pair up acorns and stones. You’ll want a nice fit.
2. With your hot glue gun, put glue in the acorn cap and attach the marble. Allow to dry.
3. Cut your ribbon based on how far you want the acorns to dangle. Do you want a loop of ribbon for each acorn or a single strand? If doing a cluster of acorns, consider just one run of ribbon for each acorn. I cut most of my ribbon at 11-16″.
4. Glue the ribbon/twine to the acorn lid. When using jute, I often glued it around the nub of the acorn. But for ribbon, I preferred to glue flat to the top. Do what you like most.
5. Group the acorns as desired and knot the ribbon. Trim edges as needed.
Which combination do you like best?
