Nothing creates a fun feeling of anticipation than attention to your guests’ approach to the party.  Today we’re wrapping up our look at Sarah from Taylor Design Studio‘s “You Are My Sunshine” Party.

The party approach has nothing to do with philosophy of party planning and everything to do with greeting your guests.  As a wedding planner, this was a special part of our planning for pre-ceremony aspects and site plans.  Deliberately walking your guests by something beautiful or through a process of story telling can create excitement, warmth and anticipation for what is about to take place.

Sarah does this beautifully for her one year old’s birthday party!  And she does it simply.  She chalks on the cement path to the front door.  The childlike nature of chalk is perfect for a child’s party.  The gray background of cement is a great contrast to what is coming inside with bright, sunny yellow and white decorations.

A great party approach can be done with decorations, appetizers, drinks and/or other treats.  When we recently attended a birthday party, we were greeted with a Hawaiian lei and a cup of fruit slush.  It was sweet, delicious and a fun way to be welcomed to the celebration.

Thank you, Sarah, for sharing your amazing party with us!  Be sure to stop by the Taylor Design Studio Facebook page and say hi.  You can like her page so you don’t miss any of her great tips for decorating your house.

What fun ideas have you done or seen to welcome your guests to the party?
