Few things are more thrilling for a child or teen to celebrate than the end of the school year and the beginning of summer vacation. I remember it as being one of the happiest days of the year!
And to celebrate, my mom always made my brother and I our own cakes. It was round or heart shaped and waiting for us when we got off the bus on our last day of school. My cake read, “Happy Summer Vacation Kristen.” Most importantly, it was ALL mine. I really don’t remember eating it all myself, but knowing how much I dislike sharing my desserts, there is a good chance.
Soon, I’ll be able to carry out this special tradition with my kids, but for the time being, you can see below what I made for my husband’s last day of his MBA class. His group was presenting on how the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan affected the world of international business…hence the yen symbol on all the cupcakes. Sayonara.
