Bridal Showers are so much fun!  Drawing personal elements from the couple’s life or interests is a way to make a shower unique and more personal.

My brother and his fiance love the outdoors.  They are hikers, campers, canoe’rs and mountain climbers.  So it was a no-brainer to integrate an outdoor theme for their bridal shower.  And when I say ‘their,’ it is because we hosted a mixed shower and invited the men in the family too.  If you’d like to see the shower invitation poem, go here.

We applied our theme to the buffet table, dessert table and favors.  (The “Mountain Climber’s Delight” dessert table will be featured in tomorrow’s post.)

The Buffet Table:  I love playing around with party decor.  I started with a burlap tablecloth.  (Be sure to air out the burlap before your guests are anywhere near!  Burlap has a strong smell.)  Then I used an odd number of logs for the centerpiece and varying sizes for buffet risers.  The sign reads, “The Outpost” in a fun Artistamp font.  Pine cones, brown and green fabric tied in square knots are my fillers.

The Menu:  We went with a barbeque theme, serving grilled chicken, burgers and hot dogs, potato salad, macaroni salad, baked beans, a fruit bowl and yummy pretzel salad.  Drinks were traditional lemonade, iced tea, soda and bottled water.

The Favors:  I got this S’mores Kit favor idea off of Kara’s Party Ideas.  Perfect for an outdoor themed party!  I pulled the tagline from another picture and put it on the s’mores kit.  How funny to send off your guests with “Take a Hike.”  😉

Check back tomorrow to see the all-white dessert table…an overload on sweets.
