I love cupcakes. They are fun, festive and often go heavy on the icing, my favorite part. The only way a cupcake can get better is if it is filled! Here is a quick tutorial on how to fill a cupcake. And the best part? With a couple of the right tools, it is so very easy!
You Will Need:
* A Decorating Bag (I use Wilton.)
* A Coupler Ring Set
* Wilton Tip 2D (optional for decorating the top)
Prepare Your Filling. My favorite is a Dulce de Leche filling. All it needs is your buttercream icing and a can of Sweetened Condensed Milk. Learn how to make it by
going here.
Assemble your decorating bag (put the base of the coupler inside the bag. Score it with scissors to create an opening. Put on the tip and tighten the ring.) Then fill your bag with the frosting. Tip: instead of trying to wield the bag in one hand, put it inside a glass. Fold the top over the glass and fill.
Push the tip down into the center of the cupcake. As you squeeze the bag, you will see the cupcake grow! (It is actually pretty fun.) You’ll get a sense of when to stop. And you will have some cupcakes crack. Don’t worry, you can hide the crack under a mound of icing.
Using a 2D Wilton tip makes frosting the cupcake so easy . . . and you get a great look. Start at the outer rim and circle the cupcake inwards. (For this large tip, you won’t use a coupler.)
Serve and enjoy!

brilliant! How did I not know this before?
Girl, you’re going to love it!
This is great! The tip to put the decorating bag in the glass is genius. I’m the idiot that always tries to hold it with one hand and scoop icing in with the other. I know for a fact my daughter will love watching the cupcakes swell. Thanks for the easy to follow tutorial!
This is great! My weakness is Bavarian Cream or Boston Cream. Your cupcakes look delish! will be trying this out myself very soon.

Really great idea! No need to actually take the center out at all, huh? I rarely fill cupcakes, but I just may have to start. Thanks for the great post! I pinned!

MMMmmmmm… that looks so tasty. I would just eat the filled cupcake without the frosting on top. I guess that is a Twinky isn’t it? LOL.
Fantastic tip for the filling and the glass trick, I have pinned this 🙂
Wow, this makes it look so easy but everyone will be so impressed! Just pinned! Visiting from a Pinteresting Link Party.
Great tip! Thanks!
Mackenzie 🙂
It sounds awesome I’m going to try it for my son’s Birthday! Last year I did peanut butter in the middle but did it before baking them.
