Simple Way #17
Have a screen-free day! I know it sounds hard, but it may be freeing. Take a day and turn off the TV, the iPad . . . the computer games. No checking Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. Act as if you no longer have a computer or smartphone, for that matter. Try to ignore emails for 24 hours. Work is the only allowed exception for the day. Other than that, take a vacation from the screen-infested life.
Not too long ago, I was without my laptop for a couple days while the screen was being fixed. While it proved a little challenging, I found it completely liberating. I wasn’t sucked in by the latest pins on Pinterest or Facebook’s status feed. I didn’t waste valuable time following up on an email promoting the latest sale at a favorite store. I accomplished more, I focused more and spent more quality time with my family.
With that said, should you start shaking or mimicking the notifications sounds of your smartphone, just take a deep breath and remind yourself, it is only one day.
So, how will you spend your new found time?
