MEMORIES OF VACATION: Traveling with Kids (Part Five)

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, then photos from vacation are worth so much more.

I have often struggled with this one. I want to take a thousand pictures and capture each and every special moment. But I also want to be free and not lug around my great, yet big, digital camera and camcorder. However, have you ever watched the pleasure on your child’s face when they are looking through a photo album of pictures of themselves?

That right there is the extra motivation. After each vacation, I hop online and create a Shutterfly photo book. (I used to scrapbook, but found the photo books to be less time, less expensive and still allow for lots of creativity.) When the finished product arrives in the mail, we all sit down and fondly remember our vacation. I also like that all the books fit neatly on my shelf so there is no hunting around to find lots of loose photos.

For a little more child-friendly album, consider purchasing a small photo album from your destination. Grandma purchased this Mickey photo album for Sweet Boy on our last trip to Disney World. He has looked through it more times than I can count. And the bonus of this is that I’m not afraid to leave it out since pages won’t rip like my Shutterfly photo books. He not only enjoys looking at pictures of himself but is reminded of the fun memories from our family trip.
